Getting through tough times.
All Quiet on the Western Front is narrated by Paul Bäumer, a young man of nineteen who fights in the German army on the French front in World War I. Paul and several of his friends from school joined the army voluntarily after listening to the stirring patriotic speeches of their teacher, Kantorek. After Experiencing ten weeks of brutal training by Corporal Himmelstoss. they all come to grips that fighting in the war is not a glamorous and the constantly live in physical terror.
In the book All Quiet On The Western Front I think the author is trying to say that war is not all it is cracked up to be and that it is a hard thing to get through emotionally and physically and I think that the book does a good job of describing that aspect. Paul and his friends go through things like that in the book that they have to face.
The main character in All Quiet On The Western Front is Paul Bäumer 19 year old who is fighting on the western front and is also the narrator of the book. The book is taking place in WW1 on the western front. Paul and his friends have unwittingly entered a hellish war in which hope for survival is sullied by the knowledge that they have already been mentally scarred beyond recovery.
Reading this book was amazing it gave so much excitement throughout the entire book and I never thought at any point that it was boring or dull. At some points in the book it made me sad but Throughout reading this book I had so many different feelings toward what was going on at what times.
