“This won't be good enough. It wasn't good enough today. It won't be good enough against anybody else, either.”

~Bill Belichick

This offseason the patriots have so far been good. For me this is all I could ever want them to do. they have signed Darrelle Revis the best corner in the league and then go and get brandon browner. I could see how some teams could be hesitant to get him because of his suspension but overall great pickup. With those two pickups that makes there defense up there with the top defenses. The next acquisition that they got was re-signing Julian Edelman. This was crucial for them. He had a great season last year catching over 100 balls which if you don't know is a lot and was targeted over 140 times. So great pick up for the patriots. The next thing that the patriots needed to address was getting a deep threat at wide recover and I think they got that in getting brandon Lafell. He is a 6'2 wide recover that can stretch the field and go up and make the catches. Last but not least Vince Wilfork. There was controversy about him asking for a release which he did. But almost a week after he asked for his release he signed a new 3 yr deal with the pats. It was so important to get him back because he has been the anchor of that defense for almost a decade. So far the offseason for the patriots has been awesome for fans and I can only wait to see what they do in the draft.

Boston Marathon

April 15, 2013 was a very hard date for me and my family. As many people know that is the date when an awful attack happened at the Boston marathon. I was in Aruba at that time but a close family friend was running in the race. We had first heard about it an hour after it happened when I went to go to the bathroom and past by a TV. The headlines said "Boston Marathon bombing". Sprinting back to my parents I told them about what happened. My moms best friends sister had gotten hurt. She had both of her legs blown off. When I heard this is I was in shock. This was somebody that I cared about. Knowing from there on that life for her would never be the same. My mom in tears all I could think about was how my mom would get through this. This is something that I will never forget about.

We fear violence less than our own feelings. Personal, private, solitary pain is more terrifying than what anyone else can inflict.

~ Jim Morrison

Have you ever had a fear. Have you ever felt like you couldn't do something. Well I can say that I did. I have always been a stranger to new situations, new beginnings but I can say that this experience shaped me for who I am today. I remember the first time that my parents told me that I had to go. I fought them tooth and nail until I was beat down to the point that I gave up fighting them. I turns out that I happened to be the best experience of my life. I'm talking about the time that I had to try out for a team. I have always been a good football player, its by far my best sport. Well this time I was selected to play on a football team that would go down to florida and compete for a national championship. I wasn't just on some team, I was representing the state of massachusetts and all of my other teammates were to. I had a fear of going to try out for this team. If my parents didn't force me to I wouldn't have gone. Don't get me wrong I love football but it was just that I was afraid. I was afraid of meeting new people and I wasn't comfortable. But hell that time that I spent with my new teammates wa the best time that I have had in a long time. I really want to thank my parents for forcing me to go because it was one of my top five moments in the short 14 years of my life. So my message is for any of you that are reading this is listen to your parents because they know what's right for you and if you are on the edge about about doing something that you fear or may be uncomfortable to you do it because you never know what's going to happen. Trust me I'd know.

Dear Son,

I want you to read The Odyssey.

Hopefully, reading, and having finished reading, a great piece of literature makes you feel that you did something worthwhile. The reason that I want you to read the Odyssey is because there are so many life lessons that you can get out of it. Not only that but it can teach a lot about yourself. I remember the first time that I read the odyssey there were so many insightful things in it which made the book interesting from the start. Now if you reading this and have already read the odyssey I have my a couple of scenes in the book that I liked. Starting with number one I have when the cyclops Polyphemus, son of Poseidon, snacks on Odysseus' men until the survivors blind him and sneak out of his cave hidden under the bellies of sheep. My second favorite scene in the odyssey is When Odysseus sailed for Troy, he left behind his clever wife Penelope and his infant son Telemachus. A few years before Odysseus returns, a large group of suitors try to force Penelope to marry one of them by moving into her palace for an endless party devouring the food and drink belonging to Odysseus. My third favorite scene in the odyssey is when odysseus is challenged to a series of events and comes out victorious. My last and final favorite scene in the odyssey is when odysseus strings his bow.

I hope that you have learned many things while reading the odyssey and I hope to talk about it with in the future. But son if theres anything that I want you to get out of the book I hope that its that you realize that your long nights spending reading the odyssey that you have become a man. It’s as if you were a caterpillar in a cacun and you have sprouted out of your journey and have became a grown, mature man.
