With the first Fenn JV lacrosse game in the books I can see that we are going to have a great season. We won the game 8-3 against LCA (Lexington Christian Academy). We came out of the gait strong with scoring 5 goals in the first quarter. It was evident that we were the better team. From there on out the couldn't catch up to us and we added another 3 goals throughout the next three quarters. But in the second half we got a little to confident in ourselves and they were closing in on us scoring 3 goals for themselves. it was a great game by the whole team.
As a football fan this is one of the most exciting times of the year for me. The anticipation for the draft is like no other. as most of you and if you don't, I am a die hard patriots fan. I always have been and always will be. This year the patriots are picking 29th overall out of 32 first round picks. I honestly don't know who they are going to pick, They have addressed the defense pretty well this offseason with adding Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner and re-signing Vince Wilfork. so I think they are set there for now. If I was the GM for the patriots and was picking for the offensive side of the ball I would go for another WR (Wide Receiver). I would draft Kelvin Benjamin. He is an 6'5 240 pound beast and is virtually unstoppable in the red zone. With him the patriots would be getting a deep threat which they have missed since Randy Moss back in 2009.
If I was picking for the defensive side of the ball I would go and draft Louis Nix III. He is an DT (Defensive Tackle) is much like Vince wilfork and his size.I think he would do great lining up beside wilfork. He is smart and I believe that you can't go wrong with this pick. I am Excited of the draft and can't wait. Who do you think that patriots will pick?
Walking into Fenn for the first time was nerve-racking I didn't know anybody. From that day on Fenn challenged me to do things like make new friends and such. What I'm getting at is that Fenn is a place like no other. Everbody's here Friendly and the teachers really care about you and they really want you to succeed. Fenn has opened doors for me that a regular public schools can't. Fenn has challenged me throughout my five or so years here. Now that I am going off to high school I feel that Fenn has trained me for this soul moment, I can now finally say that I am comfortable in moving on and opening another chapter in my life. I would like that I have accomplished everything that I could have wanted at Fenn and that makes it even more special. Leaving this year is truly saddening to be honest I will probably cry when it is all over. So for you 8th graders soon to be 9th graders at Fenn my advice would be to cherish every second in your last year at Fenn.
3 seconds on the clock, Swish the ball swiftly goes through the net. Aaron Harrison has hit the game winning shot against Wisconsin to prevail and punch their ticket to the NCAA National championship. With their ticket punched to the championship their opponents, the UCONN Huskies also punched their ticket to the championship earlier that night. The interesting thing about this matchup is that the both beat the top two teams to get their but they also both one the NCAA National Championship a few years ago. I find this matchup to be one of the best in a while. I think that his game can go ether way for both the teams. My Favorite for this game is the UCONN Huskies because I feel that right now that they are the best team in college. Even though other people would say otherwise.
The smell of the Fresh cut grass and the crisp in the air is welcoming. Lacrosse season is now here and is here to stay. Coming off a spring break and back into school was shaky. But the knowing that lacrosse season was here was had me nipping at the heels to go and play. After taking a year off from playing lacrosse last year I couldn't sit to get out on the turf and start playing. Sports time was here and I rush to the locker room grabbing my gear and going out to the turf. It was the best feeling ever. At first I really wanted to play varsity but ultimately got cut. Even though I had gotten cut I'm not mad and I'm looking forward to having a great season on JV.
“This won't be good enough. It wasn't good enough today. It won't be good enough against anybody else, either.”
This offseason the patriots have so far been good. For me this is all I could ever want them to do. they have signed Darrelle Revis the best corner in the league and then go and get brandon browner. I could see how some teams could be hesitant to get him because of his suspension but overall great pickup. With those two pickups that makes there defense up there with the top defenses. The next acquisition that they got was re-signing Julian Edelman. This was crucial for them. He had a great season last year catching over 100 balls which if you don't know is a lot and was targeted over 140 times. So great pick up for the patriots. The next thing that the patriots needed to address was getting a deep threat at wide recover and I think they got that in getting brandon Lafell. He is a 6'2 wide recover that can stretch the field and go up and make the catches. Last but not least Vince Wilfork. There was controversy about him asking for a release which he did. But almost a week after he asked for his release he signed a new 3 yr deal with the pats. It was so important to get him back because he has been the anchor of that defense for almost a decade. So far the offseason for the patriots has been awesome for fans and I can only wait to see what they do in the draft.
April 15, 2013 was a very hard date for me and my family. As many people know that is the date when an awful attack happened at the Boston marathon. I was in Aruba at that time but a close family friend was running in the race. We had first heard about it an hour after it happened when I went to go to the bathroom and past by a TV. The headlines said "Boston Marathon bombing". Sprinting back to my parents I told them about what happened. My moms best friends sister had gotten hurt. She had both of her legs blown off. When I heard this is I was in shock. This was somebody that I cared about. Knowing from there on that life for her would never be the same. My mom in tears all I could think about was how my mom would get through this. This is something that I will never forget about.
We fear violence less than our own feelings. Personal, private, solitary pain is more terrifying than what anyone else can inflict.
~ Jim Morrison
Have you ever had a fear. Have you ever felt like you couldn't do something. Well I can say that I did. I have always been a stranger to new situations, new beginnings but I can say that this experience shaped me for who I am today. I remember the first time that my parents told me that I had to go. I fought them tooth and nail until I was beat down to the point that I gave up fighting them. I turns out that I happened to be the best experience of my life. I'm talking about the time that I had to try out for a team. I have always been a good football player, its by far my best sport. Well this time I was selected to play on a football team that would go down to florida and compete for a national championship. I wasn't just on some team, I was representing the state of massachusetts and all of my other teammates were to. I had a fear of going to try out for this team. If my parents didn't force me to I wouldn't have gone. Don't get me wrong I love football but it was just that I was afraid. I was afraid of meeting new people and I wasn't comfortable. But hell that time that I spent with my new teammates wa the best time that I have had in a long time. I really want to thank my parents for forcing me to go because it was one of my top five moments in the short 14 years of my life. So my message is for any of you that are reading this is listen to your parents because they know what's right for you and if you are on the edge about about doing something that you fear or may be uncomfortable to you do it because you never know what's going to happen. Trust me I'd know.
I want you to read The Odyssey.
Hopefully, reading, and having finished reading, a great piece of literature makes you feel that you did something worthwhile. The reason that I want you to read the Odyssey is because there are so many life lessons that you can get out of it. Not only that but it can teach a lot about yourself. I remember the first time that I read the odyssey there were so many insightful things in it which made the book interesting from the start. Now if you reading this and have already read the odyssey I have my a couple of scenes in the book that I liked. Starting with number one I have when the cyclops Polyphemus, son of Poseidon, snacks on Odysseus' men until the survivors blind him and sneak out of his cave hidden under the bellies of sheep. My second favorite scene in the odyssey is When Odysseus sailed for Troy, he left behind his clever wife Penelope and his infant son Telemachus. A few years before Odysseus returns, a large group of suitors try to force Penelope to marry one of them by moving into her palace for an endless party devouring the food and drink belonging to Odysseus. My third favorite scene in the odyssey is when odysseus is challenged to a series of events and comes out victorious. My last and final favorite scene in the odyssey is when odysseus strings his bow.
I hope that you have learned many things while reading the odyssey and I hope to talk about it with in the future. But son if theres anything that I want you to get out of the book I hope that its that you realize that your long nights spending reading the odyssey that you have become a man. It’s as if you were a caterpillar in a cacun and you have sprouted out of your journey and have became a grown, mature man.
Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all time thing. You don't win once in a while, you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
As we head into our game after a nice win we are excited. This game is for all the marbles the championship. Although the team we are facing beat us earlier in the tournament doesn't mean we are going to back down. The whistle blows and the game starts. We go down the court with confidence and get the bucket. Throughout the game we are in the lead and are in command. The second half has ended with us up by 2 points. After coach gives us the one half to a championship speech or motive hasn't changed. All of us are still focused about finishing the game. With us in commanding lead and scoring they start to come back on us scoring ten straight points. Now the lead is cut down to one. We miss the basket and they come running up the court with confidence. The crowd going crazy and everybody screaming the kid on the other team hits a three. Now we are down and we are starting to down. Two minutes left in the game we are trying our hardest to get the lead back but its not enough. The clock hits 0 and the game is over we had lost. Although we had not won we had gave it our all throughout the tournament and tried our best. We will make sur to come back stronger than ever next year.
